Classic Cape Dry G&T

A refreshing and timeless cocktail, made the classic way, with lots of ice and our favourite Indian tonic, garnished with lemon zest and a sprig of rosemary

Ingredients

50ml Deep South Cape Dry Gin
200ml Indian Tonic (low sugar if you prefer)
Twist of thinly peeled lemon zest

Sprig of fresh rosemary

Juniper Berries (optional)

 

To make

Pour gin over ice in a Copa or Ballon glass.  Add Indian tonic to taste (don’t drown the gin!)    Bruise rosemary and stir into drink, leaving it in the glass.

Garnish with twist of lemon zest and sprinkle 3-4 juniper berries

 

 

Ruby Hibiscus G&T

Our signature pink G&T: Ruby Gin with hibiscus tonic beautifully complemented by sweet orange and herby thyme.

Ingredients

50ml Deep South Ruby Gin
200ml Barker & Quin Hibiscus tonic
Slice of sweet ripe orange

Sprig of fresh garden thyme

 

To make

Pour gin over ice, Add chilled hibiscus tonic

Garnish with slice of orange and float a generous sprig of thyme on top

 

 

Deep Southside (Gin Mojito)

A little tired of the ol’ G&T and looking for something a little more wickedly tropical – a gin-based mojito, with mint, sugar syrup and crushed lime for gin-with-a-difference

Ingredients

50ml Cape Dry gin

½ fresh lime, diced

6-8 fresh mint leaves

25ml simple sugar syrup

100ml Soda

 

To make

Muddle the lime pieces, sugar syrup and the mint leaves in a shaker.  Add gin and ice, and shake.

Pour into tall glass, including mint and lime pieces, and top up with soda

Garnish with a slapped mint leaf and a wheel of fresh lime.

 

 

Ruby Valentine G&T

A boldly floral gin cocktail with Deep South Ruby Gin, with a floral tonic complimented, fresh strawberries and rose petals

Ingredients

50ml Deep South Ruby Gin
200ml rose, hibiscus or elderflower tonic
2-3 fresh sweet strawberries, halved

Dried or fresh rose petals

 

To make

Add cut strawberries to glass, and crush them very slightly. Add 3-4 blocks of ice. pour in gin, and top up with a good floral tonic

Garnish with a pinch of dried rose petals or float a fresh petal or two

 

 

Ruby Pomegranate Dragonfly

A little spicy, a little sweet and a little pink and very refreshing: Deep South Ruby Gin with ginger ale, pomegranate and mint

Ingredients

50ml Deep South Ruby Gin
200ml ginger ale
1 T of pomegranate seed

Sprig of mint

 

To make

Add pomegranate to glass containing  3-4 blocks of ice

Pour in gin, and top up with ginger ale, giving it a quick stir to lift pomegranate. Garnish with fresh mint

 

 

Classic Dragonfly

The classic gin and ginger ale cocktail lifted with a hint of lime wedge and gingery herbal rosemary notes.

Ingredients

50ml Cape Dry Gin
200ml ginger ale
2 Lime wedges

Optional: Sprig of fresh rosemary

 

To make

Pour gin into a glass with 3-4 blocks of ice.  Squeeze juice of one lime wedge into glass and top up with ginger ale.

Garnish with second wedge of lime and the rosemary.

 

 

Gin Bluebird

Deep South Cape Dry Gin served with Blueberry tonic and garnished with blueberries and grapefruit

Ingredients

50ml Cape Dry Gin
200ml Fitch & Leedes Blueberry and cardamom tonic
Slice of sweet ruby grapefruit

1 T of fresh blueberries

 

To make

Pour gin into glass over  3-4 blocks of ice. Add blueberries, and pour in blueberry tonic

Garnish with a slice of ruby grapefruit

 

 

Watermelon Gin Smash

A beautifully refreshing summer gin cocktail with fresh watermelon, lemon juice and mint

Ingredients

50ml Deep South Ruby Gin
75ml (half a cup) of pulped, seedless watermelon

25ml simple syrup

100ml club soda

2 lime slices and a sprig of mint

 

To make

Pour gin into glass with 3-4 ice cubes, and stir in crushed watermelon.  Add soda to taste.  

Garnish with 2 lime slices and a sprig of mint

 

 

Pineapple Basil Gin Smash

Taste explosion of Gin, pineapple, basil and lime, topped up with fizzy soda.

Ingredients

50ml Deep Cape Dry Gin
75ml (half a cup) of fresh pineapple , crushed and juiced

Juice of ¼ lime

25ml simple syrup (optional)

100ml club soda

3 basil leaves, rolled and cut into strips

Lime wedge or slice of kiwi fruit to garnish

 

To make

Muddle basil and lime in a glass.  Add pineapple juice, gin and 3-4 ice cubes . Top up with club soda and stir.

Garnish with lime wedge, kiwi fruit and sprig of basil  

 

 

Classic Cape Dry Martini

The iconic gin cocktail, made with a touch of dry vermouth, and perfect spiral of lemon zest. 

Ingredients

50ml Deep Cape Dry Gin
15ml Dry Vermouth

Lemon zest spiral

2-3 savoury olives

Orange bitters (optional)

 

To make

Slowly pour gin and vermouth into a shaker filled with lots of very cold ice (not melting!).

Stir (or shake!) and pour into a very well chilled martini glass

Add freshly peeled spiral of lemon zest

Add olives (or a splash of orange bitters )
