Strong, sophisticated, with a refreshing citrusy herbal finish lifted by the addition of both aromatic and orange bitters to create complexity and spice.

The Pegu Club cocktail is a classic 1920’s gin cocktail named after British social club in Burma (Myanmar) where it was once made and enjoyed. Classic but timeless and so simple to make, this cocktail is still a go-to for a hot summer day.

As with all cocktails that use fresh citrus, this cocktail needs to be balanced, with zesty, tangy sweet-and-sour flavours  coming together in the glass in flavourful harmony.

  • 50ml Deep South Three Citrus Gin
  • 25ml orange liqueur (Cointreau/Triple Sec)
  • 12ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 dashes Orange Bitters
  • 2 dashes Aromatic Bitters
  • 12ml simple syrup (to taste and balance)

Method

  1. Place the gin, orange liqueur, lime juice, and bitters in cocktail shaker. Add 2 handfuls of ice and shake until cold.
  2. Strain the drink into a coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge if desired.
